Behind the Scenes: Photo Shoot for W27’s Feature Article on Sustainability

Taisa Veras from FIT’s W27’s newspaper calls me about doing a story for the February 2011 Sustainability Issue.  I am thrilled and nervous at the same time.  When I first started the Object Mythology Baby Alpaca Line my main objective was to help the artisans who make our fashion and home accessories.  I never thought that a story about how Object Mythology came to life could inspire students at different stages of their lives to pursue their goals and dreams.  Deputy Editor Taisa Veras sent me her interview questions for me to review before our meeting. Well detailed and thought out, I reviewed each one and carefully answered them realizing that the baby alpaca line has come a long way since I started four years ago.

The next step:  Photo Shoot!  I say “WHAT”??  Taisa wanted to take a picture of me wearing our fabulous I-Heart baby alpaca fingerless gloves that we are giving away in celebration of the release of the issue right before Valentine’s Day.  I say OK and then realize that its really a bigger deal than I think when I find out the fabulous and talented Samantha Adler would would be taking photographs and that Taisa would be styling the shoot.  On my end, I am happy that my good friend and life coach Valeria Mediavilla (visiting from Buenos Aires) would be coming to give me moral support.

Thursday, January 13th – we meet at the Trump Soho Hotel in the library on the 2nd floor.  Debra Messing is sitting there.  I say OMG!  Samantha arrives and we are ready to go.  45 minutes later, Taisa is happy with the photos and we are finished!  We each and toast with a glass of wine to celebrate a successful shoot!
